Nämdö is a large main island surrounded by hundreds of smaller islands and skerries. Forest, flowering pasture, older buildings and small communities create an unspoilt atmosphere, while the Stockholm Archipelago Trail provides a clear way to explore on foot.

A trail connecting the island
The Archipelago Trail section covers about 13 kilometres through gravel roads, forest, pasture and viewpoints. The full walk takes several hours; a shorter landing needs carefully chosen start and finish points.
Small-scale services
Solvik and Sand have seasonal groceries, food, a museum and library, while Östanvik has a farm shop. These services help, but their season means backup provisions and water may still be sensible.
Gateway to the new national park
Nämdöskärgården National Park extends east of the main island. Established in 2025, this marine park has its main entrance on Bullerö and remains strongly governed by weather and wind.
Inspiration – not a standard route
Nämdö is most practical from Stavsnäs and lies too far away for a normal Strandvägen charter. The page explains the destination without suggesting that Gaia regularly cruises there.
